We’re excited to launch our new Battery Rewards Plan— an energy plan designed for customers with home batteries in NSW, QLD and SA who want to make the most of their stored energy.

By choosing to export energy back to the grid during peak times, eligible customers can earn up to $600 in Digital Visa Gift Cards.^ It’s our way of rewarding smart energy choices that support a more sustainable grid.

Unlock more value from your battery: https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN

^Prepaid Digital Visa gift cards are allocated quarterly and value varies depending on kWh exported in certain peak times.  Earn a $10 gift card if you export between 1kWh and 50kWh and for every additional 50kWh an extra $10 will be added to the card value – up to a maximum of $400 each quarter.

I’m on the AGL Battery Rewards plan, and my battery definitely discharges between 5–9 pm, but I can’t find any dashboard in my AGL account that shows how much I’ve exported during 5-9 and how much I have earned so far for the quarter.
Where do you check your exported kWh for 5–9 pm so the 25¢ reward applies? In the app I can only see the 4c fit for the energy I had discharged

@Toot @Basil_AGL

That is one of the issues I have as well - there isn’t any way of tracking your battery feed-in for the 5-9pm period.
I have to use my battery / solar app to check my total feed-in for the quarter and it is a clunky way to do it though and not always accurate.

It would be good if AGL could build this into their App.

Hi @Toot and @SolarVaulter

Great to have you on board the Battery Rewards Plan! At the moment, the AGL app doesn’t show your Battery Rewards Plan export details (how many kWh were sent back to the grid between 5–9pm). We calculate all exports as part of your billing cycle, and at the end of each quarter you’ll receive a separate email with your total 5-9pm exported energy and your Battery Rewards gift card for the period.

So, having signed up to this crock plan over three months ago I have tried to find out when I will be paid for the last quarter. Hopped on Chat with your "Lack Of Customer Service" people to be told they haven't been trained on this plan and cannot help me.

I have to now call AGL direct to try and sort it out.

Why can AGL NOT get anything they do right??

I cant see how this can be marked as solved, it is ridiculous that AGL have a battery plan that a) doesn't reward you until the end of the quarter and b) doesn't track how much you have exported during peak times. As the rewards are tiered it is pretty important to know how you are tracking and without downloading data in excel and filtering on certain times there is no way of doing this.

I am really tempted now to just switch to another provider such as Flow who give 50c fit for peak exports and would track it daily.

Can someone from AGL at least confirm that the tracking of these exports is on the feature list and there is a time frame to get this basic functionality on the app?

I have just recently received my first 3 monthly 25c bonus with the digital visa card and the export credit was exactly as per the data download that I got from the site.

Hi @mattiusb73 & @Pattent,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We really appreciate it and understand how important it is to clearly see how your battery exports are tracking, especially when rewards are tiered and linked to peak‑time performance. Improving visibility of export tracking and reward progress in the app is something we’re actively working through, and over the coming months you’ll start to see changes focused on greater transparency and making it easier to understand how your exports contribute to your rewards. Your feedback has been shared with our product and digital teams and is helping shape these improvements, and we genuinely appreciate your patience and involvement as we continue to enhance the Battery Rewards experience!

This is dodgy as hell.

We started with AGL Energy on 15.12, yet our first “quarter” ended 02.02, which is not a quarter. Apparently they run on fixed quarter dates, even though their T&Cs clearly state, “Your billing quarter starts on the date you join the Energy Plan.”, no mention of fixed dates.

We expected the gift card with the bill, but it never arrived. I contacted support and was told to be patient, “it’s coming.” Two weeks passed, nothing. I contacted them again and was told the billing quarter and gift card quarter are not the same. What? So now they claim the card is issued 90 days after signup, even though their T&Cs clearly say, “receive a Prepaid Digital Visa gift card (‘gift card’) via email each billing quarter”. Each billing quarter, not some separate timeline that does not match the billing period, which in our case was not even a full quarter.

Now it is almost two weeks overdue and the support still doesn't know why. They just keep "escalating" the issue. I'm sure ACCC will be interested to hear about breaching T&C, no cards issued and lack of transparency with tracking the eligible exports.

Yes, I had the same issue. I got paid out once I was able to email someone from batteryrewards directly. Same issue, calculation is done 90 days after signup. It’s a manual process so they don’t want to do it earlier if they don’t have to. Hopefully because they’re working hard to automate it so the data can be seen in the app etc.

Hi everyone, thanks for raising this and for sharing your experiences — we’re really sorry for the frustration and confusion around Battery Rewards payments.

@AAR I’m really sorry for the lack of clarity and the delays you’ve experienced. Based on what we can see, your reward is expected to be paid no later than Tuesday 19 May. This is because your account is on quarterly billing, and your previous bill ended on 02/02, at which point you hadn’t yet been on the plan for the required 90 days. As a result, the reward is being issued in the current billing cycle rather than the previous one.

@DJW  I can confirm that your Battery Rewards payment was processed on 23/3. If you haven’t seen this come through yet, please contact our support team at batterysupport@agl.com.au and we’ll look into it for you. Thanks for your patience and for flagging this.

We recognise that this hasn’t been well communicated and that the experience to date hasn’t met expectations. We’re actively working to improve transparency, timing, and support for Battery Rewards customers.

From around 12 May, the plan will also change from earning gift cards to receiving a feed‑in tariff of equivalent value (25c/kWh for electricity exported between 5pm–9pm). This change is intended to make rewards simpler, more consistent, and easier to track. All AGL Battery Rewards Plan customers will receive written notice of this change.

We really appreciate you taking the time to call this out — your feedback is helping drive improvements to the program.
