We’re excited to launch our new Battery Rewards Plan— an energy plan designed for customers with home batteries in NSW, QLD and SA who want to make the most of their stored energy.

By choosing to export energy back to the grid during peak times, eligible customers can earn up to $600 in Digital Visa Gift Cards.^ It’s our way of rewarding smart energy choices that support a more sustainable grid.

Unlock more value from your battery: https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN

^Prepaid Digital Visa gift cards are allocated quarterly and value varies depending on kWh exported in certain peak times.  Earn a $10 gift card if you export between 1kWh and 50kWh and for every additional 50kWh an extra $10 will be added to the card value – up to a maximum of $400 each quarter.

Hi @StevenG

Great to have you on board battery Rewards and the VPP, and thanks so much for your question! At the moment, the AGL app doesn’t show your Battery Rewards Plan export details (how many kWh were sent back to the grid between 5–9pm). We calculate all exports as part of your billing cycle, and at the end of each quarter you’ll receive a separate email with your total 5-9pm exported energy and your Battery Rewards gift card for the period.

Hi there,

I have just signed up to your Battery Rewards Plan. How can I track how much energy I have discharged from my battery into the grid?  I have just discharged approx 2 kWh from my battery this evening, but can't find any record of doing so.

Many thanks.

Hi @Graeme1,

Thanks for signing up to our Battery Rewards Plan - it’s great to have you on board!

Right now, the AGL app doesn’t show how many kWh you’ve exported from your battery, but you may be able to see this in your battery manufacturer’s app. At the end of each quarter, we’ll send you a summary of your total 5–9pm exports in that period along with your gift card earned.

Thankyou for that.  My Home Battery app doesn't give me a running total of exports, but I can see when I am exporting from my battery and how quickly (eg. I usually export at a rate of 5kW). So I can just multiply that by how many hours I export for to work out the approximate amount each day.  It would just be nice to know that what I am currently exporting is actually being registered at your end, but II guess I'll just have to trust that.

Also if I leave my exporting until after my solar panels have stopped generating (eg. after 7pm - depending on time of year), then I will be able to check the export amount on the hourly breakdown on the AGL app, as I will know that all of this export will be from my battery. (Whereas at 5pm at present, there will be solar being exported at the same time.)

I assume you won't be paying me for the energy exported from my solar panels between 5 and 9pm? (That would be nice!). I assume you can tell which part of the export is from my battery.

Anyway, thanks and I will make do of tallying up my daily exports, and hopefully it comes close to matching the summary I get after the first quarter.

Cheers,
Graeme.

Most of the batteries getting installed in Australia can't export electricity manually to the grid due to regulations. Only retailers like AGL can export electricity to grid from batteries using VPP.

I am just wondering that what is the benefit of Battery Rewards Plan apart from $ 800 signup bonus if you stay with AGL for 12 months?

Thanks @Graeme1 - your tallying method is a good workaround for now, and just to reassure you, any energy you export to the grid between 5–9pm is captured on our end, whether it comes from your battery or your solar, so no need to split it up before or after 7pm. You’ll be paid for all exports in that window, and your quarterly summary will reflect everything accurately.

That is not correct. Most batteries are simply limited to 5kW/ phase.

Those few on dynamic supply may export 10kW/phase, EXCEPT ""Support for the Generation (G) compliance type is required for Solar PV. Support for both the Load (L) and Generation (G) compliance type is required for Dynamic EVSE and BESS. Any inverters or devices at the site that are not supported by the communication client must be set to non-export and non-import for the site to be compliant.”

So maybe you are referring to dynamic supply x a battery brand without explicit network approval for both Load and Generation

Thank you for expert response. Is there any solution available for Alpha Ess 5 Kwh inverter.

You can download full data on the usage tab. sort by date and solar. See download near the billing period. You can copy the date to another column, change format to date and sort by 5pm to 8.30pm if looking for peak exports only. On you meter code 13 will also give you exports.
