We’re excited to launch our new Battery Rewards Plan— an energy plan designed for customers with home batteries in NSW, QLD and SA who want to make the most of their stored energy.

By choosing to export energy back to the grid during peak times, eligible customers can earn up to $600 in Digital Visa Gift Cards.^ It’s our way of rewarding smart energy choices that support a more sustainable grid.

Unlock more value from your battery: https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN

^Prepaid Digital Visa gift cards are allocated quarterly and value varies depending on kWh exported in certain peak times.  Earn a $10 gift card if you export between 1kWh and 50kWh and for every additional 50kWh an extra $10 will be added to the card value – up to a maximum of $400 each quarter.

@rejul333

Even with a 48kw battery (which are not common) on a 3 phase system in Qld you would drop the battery SOC to zero in a smidge over 3 hours so the 4 hour window is honestly quite generous. Maybe you were hoping to capture some solar feed in between 3pm and 5pm?

On a single phase system which in Qld is limited to 5kw feed in then it does change the equation. But I’m guessing that most people with single phase if they’ve done their homework or been given good advice won’t have a installed a 48kw battery to feed in to the grid.

It’s not a case of one size fits all as everyone has different priorities and every state has different rules.
if you’re coming out in front on the $ then you’re winning 👍

No mate not any plan, I understand the concept so I'm asking for specifics.

To answer your question AGL have full control over your battery you can not set the battery to hold any for you. They state 250kWh maximum they will access in 12 months from your battery on the VPP. It's less than one per day and a lot if taken in one day.

Regardless of the VPP or the terms and conditions, your battery life will be depleted much faster and need replacing sooner. Read the T's & C's not just the PDS, or like most of us nothing at all.

@MrNash you're right, Battery Rewards is its own plan, thought it was an add on, thanks for pointing that out.

I edited my previous page reply to reflect that.

Your question though "What is the supply charge and peak rate on that plan?"

It should be that those ARE dictated by your state / region DNSP, just like all plans and tariffs, daily supply charge, single tariffs, times of various charges like peak, off peak, shoulder, CL etc.

You other comment is not correct (for VPP battery draw down) "To answer your question AGL have full control over your battery you can not set the battery to hold any for you. They state 250kWh maximum they will access in 12 months from your battery on the VPP. It's less than one per day and a lot if taken in one day."

Page 1, AGL blurb from their site . . .

"20% power reserve
We’ll always leave charge in your battery. 20% for Teslas and you can choose the level for other models in the battery settings."

Apparently.

I recently switched to AGL because I found their Battery Rewards plan very attractive. Before signing up, I confirmed whether my Alpha ESS battery (Serial Number: ALD series) would be eligible. It’s been quite some time, but I haven’t received any formal communication from AGL. I’ve heard that my battery might not qualify for this plan, though nothing has been officially stated.

I’ve tried calling AGL multiple times, but all I’m getting is the runaround—being transferred from one department to another, which is frustrating and a waste of time. The export feature for the battery appears in my app, and I can schedule it, but I believe the retailer also needs to configure it on their end. When I spoke with Alpha ESS, they explained that by default, the battery is configured only for home use. For additional purposes like exporting, it must be enabled by the retailer.

At this point, I’m not sure what’s going on. Is there anyone who owns an Alpha ESS battery and has successfully had it configured for export under AGL’s Battery Rewards plan?

Hello,  I have just bought a house that has solar and a battery.  We have only been here 3 weeks and I just transferred my AGL service from my previous address.

Some of my neighbours have said that there are more competitive deals available for solar/ battery electricity providers.

I have started to compare.   Could you please advise me if the plan that I am currently on is the best available for my situation ?

I’ve signed onto this plan only to be told by Sungrow that their battery/inverter system does not support this feature. 19.2 Kwh battery and 5Kw hybrid inverter in SA.

To say I am plssed off is an understatement.

@DJW . . .

https://www.agl.com.au/residential/solar-and-batteries/virtual-power-plant

Down the bottom in the things you should know compatible batteries and inverters.

Yes the above link is for VPP, but just t ocheck about the usual compatibility of the Sungrow inverters / batteries.

There are even less strigent requirements that come up when you bring up the Battery Rewards page . . .

https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN

In the elegibility criteria "Have a solar battery of any brand installed at the supply address"

Have you spoken to anyone at AGL, beyond the support front line ?

They can sometimes be limited in their knowlege base.

Maybe a tech dept type can assist more.

Thanks Lester. The problem appears to be with Sungrow, who I have communicated with a number of times.
Their support team stated  they are unable to program exporting to the grid as required by these plans.
They are “looking into it further” today and promised to email me by COB, but nothing heard.
AGL will be my next stop after NYE.
Cheers

Hi Basil, I've recently signed up to AGL Battery Rewards (and the VPP) where in the App or on your website does it show how may KW/H have been sold back to the grid between 6-9pm? Is there a breakdown anywhere or is this something that comes at the end of the qtr?
