I realise this is a little old, however you may be due compensation under the GSL for power companies. Check this government link out for more jnfo.

On the top of your bill there is a number of your Supplier, ring this number (or look on their website for outages).

AGL is your retailer only, they can't fix your power.
Anyone in this situation should call their electricity supplier, and they vary all around Australia.
It tells you on your bill under page one account details section . . . who your supplier is, and the emergency contact number.
