A few older threads on the forum regarding data download problems, but nothing fairly recent, so thought a new thread for 2025 would be best.
Anyone else not able to download their 30 minute data from the usage page link ?
I usually have no problems downloading the file, even though from February 2nd this year mine does not show the start or end date / time, or the account and NEM #s, layout is all screwed up to the normal date / time format.
It was there ok Wed 11/6 evening, before we headed interstate for 5 days, when I got home Mon 16th, this error comes up when clicking the download link . . .
If @NeilC or anyone else that usually downloads their data could reply if theirs is working fine (or not), that'd be great.
This would be particularly handy for SA residents to check for me, as it could be a SAPN issue.
Thanks in advance.
I have not had any issues in downloading the file for some time.
Looking at the file structure it has not changed, the last file structure change that affected me was more than 3 years ago when they changed the files date / time structure from 24 hour to 12 hour AM / PM structure.
I did have an issue where the file was not complete and was missing chunks of data but this was rectified and I have not noticed it since.
My programme reports any missing data lines on screen and pads them with 0 data lines.
This occurs for three data lines every year when daylight savings is introduced but does not occur when when reverting as the file is changed by adding the usage for the hour to the half hourly increments.
..
Thank Neil, sort of confirms it's not a general SAPN issue.
I too have had the big blocks of missing data in the past, but that got sorted after a month or so, and no more issues with that problem for a good year or so.
My data looks like this now (when able to be downloaded) . . .
Big blocks of the various tariffs, instead of daily by date / time, since early Feb !
After the old analogue meter readings still present, there is a full block of solar 30 minute intervals, then a full block of usage intervals, then a full block of controlled load intervals.
The SAPN data looks ok, so it's some sort of corruption in the AGL data for me.
This happened same time I signed up for Solar Grid Savers trial, and although that dept says they don't think going on that is responsible, I'm not so sure the coincidence is not a factor somehow.
So my spreadsheet progress has come to a screaming halt due to this, and unable to refine that to enable a check billing to the data at bill time.
All the general billing and solar app data / AGL data seems to be correct to the point of nothing obvious in difference to what my app says about solar feed in or usage, just the data download is formatted wrong, and that might mean AGL has the right format (they must have the right date / time format for TOU charges), so it might be corrupted (or changed) after that before it gets to my download zip file.
Frustrating, and not sure how long this is going to take to get fixed, now more than 5 months.
Hopefully the data download problem might mean some of the tech dept are having a genuine go at fixing this, they might have disabled it to try and reset it or something . . . the data download error message still persists to right now though.
I have had no issues downloading the CSV file from AGL for some time now.
However, the file for the last thirty minutes of the day of the .CSV file, always contains zeros as they do not have the correct data due to the fact that metering is in EST not CST.
The file is always at least ONE DAY OUT OF DATE, but can be up to THREE DAYS at some times.
Just downloaded the latest file from AGL (20:30 on the 1st) and it now shows the full data for the 30th and 31st is still missing the last 30 mins.
John yours should show the full data for each day as you are in EST time.
Les, I wish you would not refer to NEMs, the NEM is a different file format and contains a single row of data for for a meter where each day is that row, 54 columns wide for a 30 min data file and 294 columns wide for a 5 minute data file.
The file (in NEM format or AGL format) only contains up to 2 years of data. The NEM format file supplied by SAPN (South Australia Power Networks) is more confusing as it is supplied in 90 day blocks (well at least to me)
The DOLLAR values shown on USAGE pay do not represent the correct amount but are an approximation of the total usage for the day, they do not take into consideration the usage each day based on Time of Use Tariffs for import nor the real values for your exports.
I always download my files in the morning around 06:00 and have no issues, later on you may get issues as AGL download their updates manually (hence the no updates on weekends) and you may hit them as the file updates.
Les, this may have occurred to you on the 16 / 6, did you wait half an hour and try the download again???
@NeilC re NEM, I meant as per my original data file image account and NMI numbers being missing, along with sorting by date / time column (also missing).
I sometimes just call all data NEM data, as AGL use that to get their 30 minute data.
I'm pretty sure if you worked out your spreadsheet with NEM or AGL 30 minute data, you'd be pretty right on the money with a match, otherwise AGL would be charging fraudulently.
Consumers have no way to check this easily in general now (with TOU at least), without a lot of data checking, spreadsheet etc.
Updates to app and overview / usage graphs are also coming in very early at the moment 0730 this morning, with last interval still showing estimate until later today or tomorrow.
My data download is still not working, now since sometime between Wed 11/6 and perhaps Sun 15th when I next tried . . . so it's about 7 weeks since it became as issue.
It's supposed to be getting looked at, and I was supposed to get a call or email from someone in tech dept to advise what it was and if make sure it's be rectified, I've heard nothing as yet, or follow ups to Basil and a fellow named Adam in some dept at AGL.
