Questions and discussion about AGL's Energy plans and your AGL Energy account
WOW, well done AGL, Whats Next ????
I am really annoyed with AGL at the moment.
Last month they put up my Electricity prices, This month they inform me that THEY are now moving me to Monthly Billing. What will they do next month ???
What annoys me is the fact that I get no option at all. Price rises- ok, fair enough, i get that prices go up, but to then turn around 1 month later and tell me that i will now get a bill every month is unbelievable.
So, here's some things that i have lost with AGL over the years;
I have been a happy customer for many years, and my account is always in credit, but this is the last straw.
You will not dictate to me how i will pay my bill.
My power bill is, and should be, my choice on how it gets paid.
AGL, its ok, I am now looking at other suppliers.
Goodbye.

Just another AGL customer here.
Wanted to say, many have had the recent monthly billing email (or letter), most times there has been an opt out option, to go back to quarterly billing.
Me included, as a 40+ year customer, always with AGL since pre our home was built here in 1985.
You say there is no mention of that option to stay on quarterly ?
If you haven't change as yet, maybe try and opt out of monthly back to quarterly, even via the online chat or with a call to the main call centre number 131245.
If you decide to change, hopefully you have some real competitive retailers, and compare carefully.
Yes, all retailers have increased prices similarly, but some states / regions have very limited differences, and some very competitive options.
Good luck.
Good one Mark.
Yes, I agree, a letter asking if you want to go to monthly would be a lot better, and that feedback was given many months ago by numerous here in other similar posts, but not taken on board.
Some may like 12 smaller bills a year for budgeting, but it should be a consumer decision.
Obviously it would be great for AGL (cashflow) to get payments from as many as possible monthly.
All the best going forward mate.
Mark I got an email today saying that they were changing me to monthly billing. I immediately logged in and changed back to monthly billing.
That was today 17th and first bill would occur on the 22nd
The reasons stated were....
Monthly billing gives you more visibility and control. Many customers find it helps them:
Now I download and convert the download file into a useable format and the convert that in daily usage showing Peak (all three figures), Off Peak and Solar Sponge.
We pay (based on the figures above) our estimated three monthly bill.
Have a credit of $999 in our account as of today , three monthly bill due on the 20th June (5 days from now)
| Total Payable | $ 231.05 |
Estimated bill is above.
We should be paying
| Payment Required Per Fortnight | $ 35.94 |
We are paying $45 at the moment.
So will have a
| Credit | $ 762.13 |
When our bill arrives on the 22nd.
In July AGL will send us a check for about $500 for our excess credit.
The only benefit I could see was that if I did not manage my Account and was late in payment I would get charged $12.00 every month for a late payment. This is not a benefit for me but for AGL.
On the first July we get a 5% increase in our electricity prices, Drops in the first 10kwh from 10c to 8c and from 2c to 1c for the remainder.
This of course gives greater benefit to AGL as they get to use my excess power to sell at full price to other AGL users that do not have solar.
All this from users having Smart meters???
