I received a number of Text messages in recent weeks from +61 409 106 791, see following examples:

"Hi Robert ............

AGL Peak Energy Rewards: Event Thursday, 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Reply Y by 4:30 PM to take part.

Earn up to $10 in bill credits for hitting one of the following targets:

Standard Target: Earn $5 for exporting 0.19kWh or more to the grid. OR

Challenger Target: Earn $10 for exporting 0.59kWh or more to the grid the grid.

To de-register from the PER program, and all future events: https://agl.com.au/deregister

For help, call AGL on 131 245"

"Hi Robert ...........

AGL Peak Energy Rewards event is over.

Look out for the email summary within the next 7 days.

To de-register from the PER program, and all future events: https://agl.com.au/deregister

For help, call AGL on 131 245"

I am now wondering whether these text messages may be SCAMS??? At each event our home has been operating on batteries, no electrical draw from the grid, however we have never received the promised results email and checking my electricity account this morning, there are no credits.

What is the story, are these text messages SCAMS or genuine messages from AGL? If AGL should credits appear on my account or is this some type of marketing exercise??

Thanks

In my conversation with the Customer Service Rep I learned that this system has been working properly for a bout a year now, but I did not know that as I only recently joined (when my meter was updated)

There were two (2) faults.

  1. The text system did not record participation the first time each offer was made. It only recorded if you replied to the second text. I had replied "Y" to both, so I was in on all four offers.
  2. After the event was over a follow up text said to check the email to confirm in the next seven days. This was also faulty and those emails have not been sent.

So quite a few issues to sort out.

The problem is that in the absence of information rumors circulate and are believed. Apparently they are working through those affected to follow up.

Hi Basil,

I participated in all 5 the following 2 hour events offered by AGL and have not received any reports yet. Please investigate.

Mon 18 Nov 2024

Mon to Thu 25-28 Nov 2024 (4 events)

BTW I received reports from all previous 1 hour events offered and they all worked fine. But not the same with these five 2 hour events.☹️

We also participated in three consecutive "Peak Energy Reward" events a few weeks ago and have had no feedback from AGL regarding our our results. I am very disappointed about this as we made a great effort to save power. I think the idea is great, but AGL needs to more transparent about what is happening. If there was a problem in the system or things went "haywire" then let us know! Even if we didn't achieve our target (which I doubt) we should have been informed. I have been with AGL for a long time and I expect higher standards.

Hey @Vkrickles, sorry to hear you have had that experience recently.

Due to a system error, some customers may not have been included in the events that they replied to. So, if you could reach out to peakenergyrewards@agl.com.au, then the team will investigate and apply the appropriate credit to your account.

Thanks heaps,

Basil
