AGL Peak Energy Rewards

I received a number of Text messages in recent weeks from +61 409 106 791, see following examples:

"Hi Robert ............

AGL Peak Energy Rewards: Event Thursday, 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Reply Y by 4:30 PM to take part.

Earn up to $10 in bill credits for hitting one of the following targets:

Standard Target: Earn $5 for exporting 0.19kWh or more to the grid. OR

Challenger Target: Earn $10 for exporting 0.59kWh or more to the grid the grid.

To de-register from the PER program, and all future events: https://agl.com.au/deregister

For help, call AGL on 131 245"

"Hi Robert ...........

AGL Peak Energy Rewards event is over.

Look out for the email summary within the next 7 days.

To de-register from the PER program, and all future events: https://agl.com.au/deregister

For help, call AGL on 131 245"

I am now wondering whether these text messages may be SCAMS??? At each event our home has been operating on batteries, no electrical draw from the grid, however we have never received the promised results email and checking my electricity account this morning, there are no credits.

What is the story, are these text messages SCAMS or genuine messages from AGL? If AGL should credits appear on my account or is this some type of marketing exercise??

Thanks

Hi
In November, we participated in the Peak Energy Evets multiple times and our electricity usage during these times is below. The source of the data is AGL's platform. And here is the list of my problems:
1) Based on my calculation, we were supposed to get some credit in our latest invoice but this did not happen.
2) I have contacted AGL via chat support and have been advised to call 1300 377 118 and select 'Option 3', or Email to peakenergyrewards@agl.com.au, which I did. It's been two weeks, and still there is no reply. Not even an email acknowledgement.
3) According to AGL"s platform, our electricity usage is captured in whole-hour periods. However, the peak events usually start in half-hours, e.g., 6:30-8:30 p.m. How does this whole-hour usage split into half-hourly usage in the Peak Energy Event calculation?
4) Lastly, even if I consider the whole-hour usage in the peak event calculation as you can see in the last column, our usage is still low, but we have not been given any credit.
Can someone help me to find the answers to these questions, otherwise I will lose my trust in AGL and its events.
Thank you

Hey @B_P

We are aware of some technical errors from the last event, so I will send you both a direct message to understand your situation more and then pass it onto our support team. Cheers, Basil

@Basil_AGL @BobF

Today I received a call from AGL.

It seems that the last events had a few communication stuff ups. One was that each event was only registered on the second text offer, not the first. Then the confirmation emails did not get sent.

In my case I replied to both texts and so was registered, and I met each maximum goal. So I earned $40 rewards.

Thanks @Basil_AGL for following this up.

Well done @Caban. Glad you received that win and an account credit. Despite having batteries winning still takes some inconvenient rearrangement of meal times etc and I think contributes to cost savings for AGL in reduced peak wholesale electricity purchase costs.

"It seems that the last events had a few communication stuff ups. One was that each event was only registered on the second text offer, not the first. Then the confirmation emails did not get sent."  That was certainly very obvious!!

No, I've heard nothing beyond an initial message from @Basil_AGL seeking my personal and AGL account details, which I provided last Monday.

In my case it means not putting on my high load items, the HWS and Oven. They are normally off, and I ussually just used stored power.

"No, I've heard nothing beyond an initial message from @Basil_AGL seeking my personal and AGL account details, which I provided last Monday." I assume that you will be getting a phone call like I did, that Basil organised, but it comes from a number which would not be in your contacts. I was assuming it was one of those Spam Calls, however it turned out well.

This was the email;

Thanks for taking my call today, the reference for our conversation is Axxxxxx. To confirm you will receive rewards for the 4 Peak Energy Reward events you participated in during November. The credit for Peak Energy Rewards on your next electricity invoice will be $40.00

OK, thanks for that but I hope a few lessons have been learned. As Community Chairman I supported AGL to our community Members and as Estate Manager transferred our community connections (sewer stations, street lighting, community gates, community shipping locks etc) but the bungled Peak Energy Program shook my confidence in AGL service.

A couple of other complaints have since been posted, I will monitor this chat to ensure they also receive prompt attention. Electricity is now a major family expense and all of us are seeking any cost relief that may be available.

@Lono

That is why we are all here, none of us received an email with results of our participation in the AGL Energy Rewards Event.

Obviously a wheel fell off the program somewhere in AGL. They have allegedly credited two of the accounts but if I had not raised the issue here in AGL Chat, in every probability AGL would have taken no action to comply with their offer.

Keep posting. You deserve to have your issue investigated and settled.
