Payment Ambiguity

My electrical bill was higher than I could afford all at once, so I applied for Financial help and opted for the Instalment choice.
What AGL failed to tell me was that I needed to set up Direct Debit beforehand.
The next thing I realised was that the payment was now overdue.
I am now 2 days in the red and am hoping I don't get a mark against my credibility.

If you weren't set up with direct debit before, you would need to make payments of the payment plan the same way you made payments before. 
That being said, it should have been offered to set up the Direct Debit when setting up the payment plan.

 I do apologise if this wasn't done, I'll be raising this as feedback to our contact center teams to look into.
