Hi, got an unexpected queue from agl with what looks like the remainder of the QLD Gov cost of living payment, not sure why it didnt remain as credit. Also wondering how I'm suppose to use it when my bank no longer processes cheques?

Anyone had a similar experience and or solution?

It might be possible to bank a cheque at Australia Post using Bank@Post,  possibly selected locations, not sure . . . you can apparently deposit any cheque to your account that way, but might need a VISA debit card that uses a PIN.

Pop by your local PO and ask.

Or, I believe you can still go onto a branch of the issuers bank and cash a cheque, you obviously need ID such as DL, and maybe some other form of ID.

Again, you might have to contact their bank main phone number and confirm.

Cheques are certainly on the way out, it's surprising AGL is still using them.

Thanks never knew the post office might be a solution, I'll give it a go.

You received a cheque from AGL for the Queensland Government's cost-of-living payment, likely instead of a credit, and your bank doesn't process cheques. You'll need to find alternative methods to deposit or cash the cheque, such as contacting AGL for a bank transfer or exploring options like a cheque deposit service.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.
Please contact us on https://www.agl.com.au/help-support/contact-us
Our dedicated team will look into it for you. The process would be cancellation of the cheque and transfer of credits into your bank account.

Thanks for your patience

Hi,

Thanks I went to the post office and was able to deposit using my visa debit card. What a pain, up to 10 days before it clears and thats if it works. Anyway thanks again for the replies and help. I hope AGL stops sending cheques.

@Robw1 well I suppose the post office thing got you through this time, although 10 days is a while to wait for clearance.

If you think regular credits (more rebates) might be staying, maybe worth sorting with AGL to put those into your bank directly in future . . . or better just leave on the account until you request a credit.

It is strange how they cut you a cheque for some leftovers, rather than leaving in credit.

I've not been in credit after the past years federal $75 payments, so not sure if it would have been same for us, but I will be in credit very soon by a fair amount, so hoping it will just be left on the account for next bills that roll in.
