Questions and discussion about solar, batteries, and electrification
We have been slowly converting our house to be all electric. I'm in the process of having the last gas using appliance disconnected. This is in relation to hot water. I then want to cancel my gas bill all together. I've read things in the past which alert me to the fact that this is not an easy process. How does AGL support people through this process without undue stress.

Hi Susan,
Once all of your gas appliances have been disconnected, please give us a call and ask to speak with the New Connections team. They’ll be able to assist you by sending a request to have the meter abolished.

@susan6 further to Syeds reply.
I have never had gas connection (from main supply), but have read when someone wants to get out of gas altogether, there are usually 2 options.
Cheapest option - Disconnecting gas at the meter, leaving all pipes and infrastructure in place, gas plumber terminating gas outlets safely, option to reconnect if ever the need.
Quite costly option - Have all the gas related stuff removed, very $$$, less risk of leaks, both have pros / cons.
Something I found quickly . . . Disconnect from gas
I moved out of my property in North Sydney in January 2025 and advised AGL of the disconnection. I am still receiving Gas bills from AGL. I have advised AGL twice of my cancellation, yet today I received yet another bill for July. How can I get AGL to stop charging me for a service I am not using?
