We’re excited to launch our new Battery Rewards Plan— an energy plan designed for customers with home batteries in NSW, QLD and SA who want to make the most of their stored energy.

By choosing to export energy back to the grid during peak times, eligible customers can earn up to $600 in Digital Visa Gift Cards.^ It’s our way of rewarding smart energy choices that support a more sustainable grid.

Unlock more value from your battery: https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN

^Prepaid Digital Visa gift cards are allocated quarterly and value varies depending on kWh exported in certain peak times.  Earn a $10 gift card if you export between 1kWh and 50kWh and for every additional 50kWh an extra $10 will be added to the card value – up to a maximum of $400 each quarter.

@Pen_AGL

Thank you for the update regarding the future change to the battery feed-in payment from gift card to feed-in tariff on the bill. That’s really good to see that AGL are listening to some customer’s frustrations and I think that this change will help a lot.

Cheers

Hi Tazzie,

How long since the first bill Agl took to send you the visa gift card?

I am still waiting for 3 weeks since the bill.

In the same boat . Awaiting for the gift card for 3 weeks ..

Joined 15 dec billed on 05th March

90 Day completion 15th March .

I have changed billing cycle to monthly . So hopefully i will get the egift card after the next bill .

Or do i have to wait another 90 days?

Billing date was 1st March and I received the visa credit by email 16th March. I was told it would be within two weeks from the billing date, so fairly close. Note it is only every 3 months

Hi @Toot & @shardk

To receive your Visa card, 2 conditions need to be met:

  1. You have been on the plan for greater than 90days  AND
  2. Your next bill has been sent covering the end of the 90 days export period.

It normally takes about 2 weeks after the end of your billing period to receive the email with the pre-paid card.

If you’re after more personalised information, please contact our support team at batteryrewardsplan@agl.com.au, and they’ll be able to provide specific details for your account.

I'm glad you are getting rid of these gift cards. As best I can tell, given there is no PCN provided with these eCards, and given the redemption code is already consumed, there is no way to check the remaining balance.

Hi.  I signed up to the AGL Battery Rewards plan on 9/12/2025 and have just received my first rewards card.  The terms of the plan says the "billing quarter starts on the date you join the Energy Plan".  So was my export calculated over the period 9/12/2025-8/3/2026 and three months after that (ending 8/6/2026, 8/9/2026,...)?

@Hobbo
You can check your billing quarter on the AGL App. It will show you the start and end dates for the quarter and yes it should be from the date you signed up - at least that is what mine is. Hope this helps.

Hi @Hobbo

Your first Battery Rewards billing period runs from the date you joined the energy plan (9 December 2025) through to the final bill issued in your first billing quarter. Your exports for that period are what your first rewards card was based on.

After that first payment, Battery Rewards credits are applied automatically on your normal quarterly bill cycles going forward.

You can check the exact start and end dates of your billing period on your bill or bill email - they’re shown in the top‑right corner under "Billing Start Period" and "Billing End Period".
