We’re excited to launch our new Battery Rewards Plan— an energy plan designed for customers with home batteries in NSW, QLD and SA who want to make the most of their stored energy.

By choosing to export energy back to the grid during peak times, eligible customers can earn up to $600 in Digital Visa Gift Cards.^ It’s our way of rewarding smart energy choices that support a more sustainable grid.

Unlock more value from your battery: https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN

^Prepaid Digital Visa gift cards are allocated quarterly and value varies depending on kWh exported in certain peak times.  Earn a $10 gift card if you export between 1kWh and 50kWh and for every additional 50kWh an extra $10 will be added to the card value – up to a maximum of $400 each quarter.

I am in the previous / initial Battery Rewards scheme - I jumped in when it was first advertised - so just got $400 credit for being with AGL for 3 months and $390 for the quarter for peak exports ( max is 400 per quarter in the old one) / seems like when they launched the NEW Battery Rewards scheme - they cut back on the “ rewards” 😁😁😁

I am also new to AGL and the Battery Rewards plan which is a very good plan but I have to say I am both shocked and disappointed that customers have to track how they are progressing towards their quarterly gift cards themselves. Surely it is not that complicated for AGL to enhance the app to show this all important information so that customers are both informed and encouraged re their 5-9 pm energy exports. Very poor for a large and supposedly professional corporation not to be doing this well before customers have to complain and point out the obvious.

Hi @Pattent, thank you for joining in on the Battery Rewards Plan. We do appreciate your feedback surrounding the tracking of exported data. This is information that I have shared through. As of now the above suggested workaround is the best way to track how you are going. I do apologise for the inconvenience of having to track it yourself.
Thanks, Chris

Hi@ ChrisE_AGL

Do AGL have any plans to enhance customer information in the app to overcome this glaring deficiency?

Cheers

I really wanted this plan to work for me. However, I have not received the digital VISA for my exports during the quarter and the resolution team report the best the can do is email the “back end” team that perform the calculation. The advertised benefit of large quarterly payouts is meaningless if they are not delivered reliably.

@Lovely

How long have you been waiting for the digital Visa card to arrive….i.e when did your billing period end and how long since then?

Quarter ended Jan 28. On Feb 2 I received a digital VISA for one day in the quarter, Dec 2. The credits for Dec 3 - Jan 28 (and now also Jan 29 - Feb 16) are missing. I spoke to the resolutions team on Feb 4 and Feb 16 and they could not tell me when I would receive my missing credit.

@Lovely

Do you have a record of your exports for the missing days?
If you do then it’s a no brainer - AGL will have to  pay you for the missing days.

Yes, that’s what I don’t get. It’s easy to download the NMI data and sum the exports for that time period. Maybe the data is harder to access as a third party? Maybe the data formats are different from different DNSPs and they're having a hard time automating the calculation? Maybe the backend team is grossly understaffed and they're processing time is months not days? I was disappointed the resolutions team didn't have a better answer for me other than "we'll email the backend team again".
