We’re excited to launch our new Battery Rewards Plan— an energy plan designed for customers with home batteries in NSW, QLD and SA who want to make the most of their stored energy.

By choosing to export energy back to the grid during peak times, eligible customers can earn up to $600 in Digital Visa Gift Cards.^ It’s our way of rewarding smart energy choices that support a more sustainable grid.

^Prepaid Digital Visa gift cards are allocated quarterly and value varies depending on kWh exported in certain peak times.  Earn a $10 gift card if you export between 1kWh and 50kWh and for every additional 50kWh an extra $10 will be added to the card value – up to a maximum of $400 each quarter.

Please clarify - is it “up to $600 per year” as per the banner ad, or “up to a maximum of $400 each quarter” as per footnote ^ ? Put differently, if a customer exports above 1560.1 kWh during the peak period each and every quarter, do they earn $1,600?

Hi @Sam85,

Yes, AGL bill credits can be used towards supply charges, as credits are applied to the total balance of your bill which includes both usage and supply charges.

Check out this section of the landing page here on how much you could earn https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN&cidi=AGL-B1003589#...

For every 1-40 kWh exported, you’ll earn $10 worth of Digital Prepaid Visa Gift Cards (to a max of $400 in each 3-month period). The $600 per year is just a promotional headline we're using based on an average home battery  exporting up to 600 kWh ($150 worth of Digital Gift cards) per quarter.

At the end of your 3-month period, we’ll let you know how much you’ve exported, along with your Prepaid Digital Visa card via email and SMS.

Hope that helps.

Hey @Tony8,

The Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is separate from the Battery Rewards Plan.

With the Battery Rewards Plan and you’ll earn $10 in Digital Prepaid Visa Gift Cards for every 1–40 kWh exported during the peak window. Rewards are capped at $400 per 3-month period.

You can see how much you could earn here: https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans/energy-offer?webid=BRPLAN&cidi=AGL-B1003589#....

Please also note, you can add the VPP to any AGL energy plan, including the Battery Rewards Plan. This means you can earn both Bill Credits and Digital Prepaid Visa Gift Cards by combing the two.

Hi there,

You can earn over 25c per kWh in Peak Export Rewards (paid as Visa gift cards) + standard retail Feed-in Tariff (FiT) when your battery exports during peak times. Hope that helps.

HI @Georgia_AGL

Thank you for your response. However, I’ve noticed that the offer has changed. It now provides an $800 credit instead of $400, but with a 12-month waiting period "Credit paid at end of 12 months." , which doesn't really help us.

If possible, could you please forward my message to the marketing team and request they offer a pro-rata credit, such as $200 after 3 months, to help cover the supply charge?

Thanks

SAM

Can you further clarify whether the 3c general F.I.T. is also only a "bill credit". That is to say, unlike your introductory $800 bill credit offer, can the 3c/kWh FIT be paid out in cash if the bill is in positive balance? If so, what is the process for any credit payouts from AGL to the consumer?

I’m relatively new to AGL and its Battery Rewards program (with the VPP plan). How does my battery connect to the system? Do I need to set it up myself? I tried, but my installer and the manufacturer advised that it can’t be done by me and that only the retailer can handle this. Currently, I can only use my battery for self-consumption. So, how does the battery export between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM work? Who is responsible for enabling this export?

If you’ve signed up to the Battery Rewards Plan then you wil be able to export whenever you like through the system settings of your solar and battery  - I’m assuming you have an App for your battery and solar? I am not on the VPP.

I have a Sigenergy system that has an App where I can set the the battery to export whenever I want on what they call “Time Based Control” - typically between 5pm and 9pm as that’s when it makes it most sense or cents 🙂 lol.

Also bear in mind that on the VPP AGL can use your battery whenever they like to export.

What is the supply charge and peak rate on that plan?
