Meter upgrade

We have just received a notice of intent for a digital meter upgrade. The questions we ask are:
Will such upgrade then prohibit us from changing the supplier (ie: some supplier other than AGL) in the future?
Is there likely to be some inhibition or cost penalty because of the meter situation, at that later time?
Is the new digital meter the property of AGL? If so, what happens if we then elect in the future to change to another supplier? It would seem that AGL then need to agree to hand over those meters to the new supplier or the new supplier replaces same?
Fundamentally; by having the meter upgrade do we then tie our supply to AGL for ever? If not, is there likely to be a cost penalty in changing to another supplier at a later date?
It would be appreciated if you can provide answers to the above queries.

Hello @LillianC, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.

Upgrading your meter to a digital meter will not prevent you from changing energy suppliers in the further.

To ensure we are providing you with accurate information, we would recommend contacting our Digital Metering (Mon - Fri 8am - 5:30pm (AEST) 1300 669 245) team to assist you further.

Kind Regards,

Natalie
