Hi,
Just wanted to fill in on my negative outcome for the past 2 weeks. I've had multiple calls with Tech support and each time different answers and false information regarding port forwarding and static IP requests.
Answer like ... What is port forwarding? ( The guy had no idea!) They don't know what is CGNAT ... Then another I'll give you a fixed IP to solve it .... ( good sales guy hihi) then even better it shall be working in two days,,.. lol today I was told I can not have a static IP on my VDSL line.... They need to get their support reorganized and stop us from wasting so much time.... HELP ME

There are other posts on this site regarding this I suggest you do a search.

You can get a static IP.

Personally I would not use a Electricity Retailer as an Internet Service provider or a Mobile phone provider.

Cheers Neil

@TwinWaters

I have been with the same telecommunications company for the last 14 years moved houses switched to NBN and right now I am having an issue with my router dropping out spasmodically with PPOE dropouts.

Its annoying have a 3min outage but am putting up with it as I know that it is an issue with the router 604 metres from me and that others in the street may be complaining.

Now when I am away I can remote into my home network and check it, which is handy for my housemate, we have a router connected to the NBN and a second router (with bigger antennas) that allows us to be able to access our network from anywhere on the premises.

Now if by Monday next week if the issue is not resolved, I will ring  my provider armed with a week of router logs, they will check on their side, pass the job to NBN and the issue will be fixed that day (yes have been through this before, but takes about 2 hours on the phone.).

Now as a telecommunications provider they have specialists that actually have the necessary skills.

AGL has no skills in this and rely on a a third party company for their help desk which appears to have no skills as well.

As stated do a search and you will find how to tell AGL that you want a static ip...

Cheers Neil
