Controlled load 1

Hi there,

Regarding Controlled Load 1, how can I find out which specific six-hour period between 10 PM and 7 AM is available for my controlled load? If I would like to have availability at different times, what options do I have? I mean, are there other controlled load options, or what should I do if I don’t want to use a controlled load?

Thank you.

Regards

It sounds like you have single rate with CL plan ?

Is this for a HWS ?

That is no smart meter, just the old analogue type ?

Various states seem to have different times for all the various metering types, for single or TOU (time of use) tariffs.

It should be as easy as this . . . if you have the AGL login, which you must to post here, you can log in to your account, the Overview page that comes up first, click on View plan details, it will tell you what you are on, times of normal rate and CL metering.

To get off CL, the item on it (likely HWS) needs to be put onto the general circuit.

I believe you can just leave the likely combined CL meter on the board, you just won't get any more readings on the CL recording.

Have been advised any sparky can do this for you, but if you want the meter changed, they would do that through the power supplier, who will charge for removal and (possibly*) replacing a new meter.

* possibly, because all power cos / retailers have a mandate to get everyone onto smart meters in the next year or three, so they usually replace a meter free . . . you might be able to do a deal to 'upgrade' meters at no cost.

If you do this, or anyone (retailer or supplier) wants you to remove the old analogue / CL meter, it's likely to be replaced by a smart meter, which has good and bad points.

A smart meter will allow you to download real time data and accurate bill updates via the AGL app.

BUT, if you want to stay on single rate, with or without CL, then you must ask for it very specifically, preferably in writing, because they might put you onto a TOU tariff automatically instead, which could be a lot more costly for you.

That depends on your power usage.

Without knowing the background for CL removal, do you have an electric HWS you want off that for some reason ?

It's usually the cheapest way to heat your HW, unless you have installed a solar system.

(If you have put solar on, or are going to, you will get a smart meter by new policy, so that's not likely.)

Hi Zhaoxia, Supply time/duration to the controlled load can vary depending on your distribution area. I will send you a private message shortly to discuss further. Cheers, Deepesh
