Hi,

 

Looking to move  over to AGL internet. Currently with telstra and have their telstra smart modem. Is this modem usable for AGL internet or would I need to get a different one?

To be able to have a landline with us you will need to have one of our modem.

The original modem stopped working
I had an old Telstra modem that I plugged in I got internet but no phone
What modem should I be looking at

Not too sure sorry, I'm still using the telstra modem as I don't have a house phone so that wasn't an issue for me.

Don’t do it!!

AGL internet is terrible, I swapped over to try & get a decent deal on energy, mobile & nbn.

NBN drops out every 10 minutes!!

Interesting, glad it worked for you 

I tried using the Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 but i couldn't configure it to connect, even when submitting a new user and ID with the AGL username in the PPP credentialing section of the Telstra Gateway. 

The AGL helpdesk guy suggested I just buy a new TP link modem....

I can't imagine how frustrating this has been for you.
I can also suggest maybe worth giving Telstra a call and seeing if they can change any settings within the modem to help the connection with AGL, or you can make sure the modem hasn't been locked with Telstra.
