I have done a lot of research on Smart Metres and not only are they a danger to your health but also they are an invasion of privacy in our home. I had an agreement with AGL that they were extending the timeline for our installation to 2030 and now we have received notification that they will be installing on 14th April.

Of course they sent the information out over the Easter period (funny that) which means I haven't been able to make contact. The phone lines are always busy they don't get back so frustrating. Looks like we'll have to stand by the metre box all day!

Hi @Goldsy1947

Thank you for your post.

With smart meters, they only record the usage being used, they can't record or see what devices are being used within the household. They do offer more transparency to your usage as using the AGL app or logging into your My Account, you'll be able to view what your recorded usage is from day to day.

A smart meter can be initiated to be installed in a few ways, the Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP), may have initiated the exchange if they have determined your current meter to be at the end of it's lifespan.

Thanks, Chris
