New Digital Meter = Lack of Hot Water

Recently had a Digital Meter installed.  Our hot water now only last for 2 showers max.  In a family of 4 this is unstainable.  I have seen a few post online with similar issues post Digital Meter install. Also sounds liek AGL shift the blame to Energy Aus, and back around.  To be blunt, I would like to avoid going around in cirlces on this issued and I would like a resolution today, please. Thanks

@Sturner not sure who is responsible, but AGL might be able to liaise with the DNSP who probably contracts to the meter company to install.

The DNSP might even be able to do any reconfiguring remotely to get more heat into the HWS.

It sounds like you still have the same HWS, so it must be simply not getting the right period for heating, perhaps going onto some too limited CL timing . . . some states have different levels of CL, so you can get two heatings a day.

I would call AGL for expedience, and see what they can do to assist.

Ask them what options you have to CL, and what the charges are so you know what to expect.

When we were on new digital meter CL after having solar put on, we went from CL in off peak (2330 - 0530) to the main heat in shoulder (1000-1500) due to the abundant cheaper power here in SA during solar soak hours . . . I would see a tiny reheat in old peak times for just 30 mins or so.
We've changed all that now, but that's what we found with running times from going from analogue CL to digital CL.

Hi @Sturner

l have a same problem with. Tonight 2 of my family take a cold shower as the heater tank is not heating the hot water. Even l change the brand new tank. But still happens some night. T___T. Or we should change the electric supply company? Please let me know if you can find the solution.

Hi @Sturner @Tippy

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm really sorry to hear about your experience — I understand how frustrating it can be when your hot water setup isn't working the way you need it to.

When it comes to hot water heating, it often depends on the type of electricity tariff you're currently on and what your energy distributor supports in your specific area. If you're looking for longer heating hours, we’d first need to check your existing tariff. In many cases, if your distributor allows it, we can explore changing your tariff and potentially include Controlled Load 2 (CL2), which would give you extended hours for hot water usage.

To help you further, could you please send us a private message with your account details? I’d be happy to personally look into your setup and see what options are available to you.

Looking forward to helping you sort this out.
