@AGL-CustomerX well, firstly you need to sign up for it.
In the states that have the SSO (solar sharer offer) as dictated by govco that every retailer must have from July 1st, it's an option you must sign up for, it's not automatic.
You must also have a smart meter connection, and go onto a TOU (time of use) plan with SSO.
You may be on older metering, and single tariff, which might suit your power needs far more economically.
You must be aware if your own home / power usage will be better off under the SSO plans, as the other 21 hours a day tariffs are probably significantly higher, as well as the daily supply charge higher.
If you are at work during the SSO free hours, you can set timers for sure to use many appliances, but likely you won't use enough even with many appliances running in the 3 free hours to benefit.
In fact bills will probably be significantly higher.
People need to do the sums based on past usage, any differences in plan changes with TOU and daily supply charge, and how much you can change your power use habits to suit 3 free hours.
Then hopefully not be worse off with the other 21 hours a day higher tariffs and higher daily supply charge.
