AGL does not value customers.

Long time AGL energy customer paying our quarterly electricity bill.

Received demand letter that AGL has decided to change to monthly billings.

Only response offered was to a 'no-reply' email address.

Crazy, I was being forced to pay twelve times instead of four times each year.

And, risked running four times more chances of paying penalties should I forget to pay on time

No problem, Red Energy gave me a better deal.

No longer AGL customer.

I don't think BIG-ENERGY gives a stuff about real customer service.

Hello!

It's frustrating to deal with such changes, especially when they come with more frequent billing and higher penalty risks. Switching to Red Energy sounds like a good move if they're offering a better deal and better customer service. It's unfortunate that big energy companies often lack personal MyThedaCare Login customer care. Hopefully, Red Energy will provide you with a much better experience.

Corporations, all of them do what's best for profits, and yes, some might show more care for customers, but in general it's hard to get good service from the likes of telcos, power cos, and govco depts are not too easy either !!

Check the wording on the email or letter, have found many getting this notification do have the option to go into their AGL account online and opt out of monthly, and stay on quarterly.

Customers SHOULD be given info about this and opt in, if they want to, not the opt out version.

It would be interesting to know, did your offer have that option ?

It's possible as a corporation, AGL might be switching to offering only monthly for some, as the cash flow would be nice for them.

Some have also noted monthly is direct debit, which I am strongly against, old world, I like getting a bill nad paying as per terms, nothing coming from my accounts without me making the transaction.

Pricing.

Rock and a hard place generally.

Here in SA I have certainly looked, especially when one price rise was with AGL was 44% more for us on the various tariffs.

I found very little real competition, if ones rates were less, their supply charges were much more, and vice versa.

We got solar.

It was a huge investment for us, as we also upgraded the 40yo roof from cement tiles to new colourbond, along wtih new gutters.

Solar alone, no battery, but for now it's cut our bills massively because we are able to self consume a lot.

We don't skimp on comfort, running air cond when needed.

I found the best AGL deal I could get with the solar and various plans, and we have nailed down power use habits quite a lot, to a stage where for billing period now we have and avg 25 days in of 18.6c / day for the power, and $1.0256 a day supply charge.

So a typical 90 day quarter the bill is around $1.21 a day total and quarterly undr $109 if we keep that pattern.

It's not an easy leap to make such an investment, but I guess the home is now more attractive should we ever sell, or maybe when we're gone, when the kids sell up.

Been here nearly 40 years, first home, and with AGL over 40 years with a short time renting back in the mid 80's.
