Fast Internet - Slow webpage loading

Anyone else having this issue? I run a speed test (when it works) and get 109MBs down 19MBs up. But webpages load incredibly slow or don't load at all on my devices. Apps time out and so on.

No nbn outages or works in my area.

Speed from connected units to the router is fast 300-600Mbs.

Tried working on just 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Tried default DNS or setting it to Google.

Tried another modem/router and put it on a different IP address range.

Turn router firewall on/off.

Other suggestions to try???

Anyone else having these issues with AGL? Do I need to look to another provider?

Hi @echobuddy I am so sorry to hear you've been facing slow speeds. You have definitely done a lot of troubleshooting, and I appreciate you sharing all this information with me.

I do want to let you know a couple things I can recommend is testing an alternative ethernet cable and doing a direct connection from the NBN box to a laptop/computer and doing a speed test there.

You will need to unplug the modem from the NBN box, using the same cable connect 1 end to the NBN box and 1 end to the computer.

If you are still getting slow speeds, please take note of the speed test ID, you will need to get 3 examples all within 2 hours apart from each test, and once you have all 3 we can look at raising a fault to NBN for you.

Please give us a call on 131245, or contact us on our live chat platform for further assistance

Kind regards, Sheena

I got same issue. Just switched to AGL few days ago but already thinking to change to some one more reliable.

Hi @HappySoft & @Raza1
I am really sorry to hear you both have been facing the slow speeds with your internet connection, I can't imagine how frustrating this has been.

We would love to be able to assist with these slow speeds.

Please try and use an alternative ethernet cable if you haven't already. I can also suggest doing a direct connection from the NBN box to a laptop/computer and see if you still get slow speeds, if you do, we can raise this as a fault to NBN, if not we will be able to see how we can get this resolved on our end to help with the connection.

If you get faster speeds through the NBN box, I can suggest we can do a couple modem configurations to see if this increases the speeds you've been facing.

Please contact us on 131245 or on our live chat platform
Thank you, Sheena

Thanks Sheena

I had tried a new network cable in my testing as well.
I didn't think to try connecting the nbn box directly to the laptop.
I did factory resets on both routers.

Bizarrely the problem was intermittent during that afternoon and then
disappeared by night and hasn't been much of an issue since then.

Ive had this problem crop up multiple times before but never spanning over
2 days like when I reported it.

During the issue, speed testing on both routers from multiple devices
showed excellent speed (when they ran - sometimes they timed out) but web
pages repeatedly failed to load or took 30-40 seconds.

Good chances, it was something with the nbn. We will have to wait until my
problem crops up again to investigate further.
