Hi @vaidyonly - thank you for reaching out.

Yes you can have your electricity and gas turned off while you are away, you just need to give us at least 3 business days notice from the date you would like the services to stop.

You can self service this through the App or the AGL MyAccount or with the help of one of our people via webchat, messenger or over the phone at agl.com.au/contact-us.

Kind regards,
Xander

I have a few follow-up questions regarding the service suspension for clarification: 1) Are there any fees charged to implement or maintain the suspension? 2)Are customers exempt from paying supply fees during the suspension period?

Could you please clarify this for me? Thanks!

Hi @Tina_H

Those are some fantastic questions.

So, depending on how the service is suspended and the distribution area there may be fees associated. More likely to happen with gas rather than electricity as smart meters can be actioned remotely.

As for the daily supply charge, for the duration of the period you would not get this as the service would be suspended.

Depending on how long you need the suspension as it does require three business days notice to suspend and reactivate, it may be worth maintaining the service, this is a case by case and you should look into your own circumstances before making the choice.

Thank you, Chris
