I have been hit with an unrealistically high gas bill.

My gas bill arrived a few days ago and I'm in total shock!

The amount on the quarterly bill was $1,554.11. That's around 8 times my normal usage.

I understand that it was based on my meter reading, but what I don't understand is how can it suddenly go up so high?

Could it be the faulty meter? or could there be a gas leak? the high reading was from hot water meter and I only use hot water for shower. This is so unrealistic as my routines and my usage have not been changed. What's more strange is that I wasn't even home for 4 weeks due to house sitting my brother's house while he was on holiday.

 

Can someone help me what to do in this case? Has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm in shock and now I'm scared to even turn the hot water tab on. This is shocking.

Hi Natalie, I have been trying numerous times to contact through chat
and phone but due to long wait times I was unsuccessful in talking to
anyone.

The bill is due tomorrow and it will be direct debited from my account.

Is there any way I can contact you directly without going through the
waiting process?
I really feel that something must have gone wrong with the meter or something.
