When selling a house, you must notify your electricity and gas providers to close your accounts on your move-out date, providing a forwarding address and final meter reading. For water services, your conveyancer arranges a special meter reading for pro rata charges up to the settlement date, as water accounts automatically transfer to the buyer. Be sure to take photos of the meters as a backup for your final bills.
Council Rates etc are also managed by the conveyancer.
