Billed for wrong meter number

AGL have been billing me for the wrong meter number. I realized this when I got large sums even when I was overseas and checked my meter readings. Then I raised this concern with AGL in August and provided the correct meter number that was outside my property. Then AGL said they would do the investigation in the meantime I would not have to pay the bill until the investigation was completed and freeze the bill for a couple of months.
