Since no one else has replied, I'll give you my experience . . .

Generally yes, your energy retailer and distributor when adding a battery to an existing solar system to ensure grid compliance, update the Distributed Energy Resources Register (DERR), and ensure proper metering.

While installers often manage this, it is your responsibility to confirm, as it may change your plan terms, rates.
Also, you will likely be better off on a different plan, or one with better rewards with the battery.

A lot depends on your system and battery specs, your usage in the home, and the reason you got a battery.
