Turn off Gas Main Question

Should I turn my property gas main off when away for a month perchance a leak or pipe failure. Runs instantaneous hot water system and stove. Regards Darrylm.

This is my gas hot water system. There is an electrical switch also that I assume is for the ignition ? I assume that I just switched this off when I turn the gas mains off ?
