Hi - moving home shortly and have arranged power to be switched on, but current residents are also with AGL, question is do I still need to turn the mains off or is it just a transition with a reading and carry on without needing to switch the meters off?

@mathewbrt

It is an offence if you turn off the power to a property.

If you have a smart meter they can remotely turn it off (and do a meter read).

With an analogue meter(s) the fuse supplying power to the property will be removed.

If you have a stop / start order for the property the meter(s) will be read and the power will remain on.

Cheers Neil
