Dispute Re-energisation charge

I want to formally dispute the $57.90 "Re-energisation" charge that appears on my latest electricity account

I believe I should not be liable for this charge for the following reasons:

  • AGL disconnected my electricity supply on 24/05/2026.
  • I did not request or authorise the disconnection of my electricity service.
  • The disconnection occurred due to an error by AGL and AGL must accept responsibility for this mistake.
  • As a result of AGL's error, I was required to contact AGL to have the issue investigated and my electricity supply restored.
  • The costs associated with rectifying an error caused by AGL should be borne by AGL, not by me as the customer.
  • It is unreasonable and unfair for AGL to disconnect my electricity service in error and then charge me a fee to reconnect a service that should never have been disconnected in the first place.

Given the circumstances, I request that AGL:

  1. Immediately remove and re-credit the $57.90 re-energisation charge from my account.
  2. Issue a corrected electricity bill reflecting the removal of this charge.
  3. Provide written confirmation that this billing error has been rectified.

Hi @radhudileep

If there was an error the charge would not have been applied. If it took multiple attempts to get a recconection depending on the circumstances of the connection the distributor may have passed these charges on.

I'm more than happy to look into this for you, I'm going to send a Private Message to collect further information from you.

Thank you, Chris
