Controlled load - can you nominate the usage hours?

Hi,  on the AGL website it states following in regard to controlled load..... "Supply is available at this rate at hours determined by your meter configuration for a six hour period usually between 10pm and 7am.".  That would imply that your meter will be configured to allow controlled load for a 6 hour window between 10pm and 7am?  Can I request a time period for my 6 hour window? eg: 1am to 7am?  If so what is the process?

Also I assume you are only charged for electricity used during the 6 hours window?

Our controlled load was available for the HWS from 2330 - 0630 each day here in SA, 8 hours.

I think all states and possibly regional power suppliers have different times, tariffs, supply charges etc, so maybe the statement on the AGL site is a blanket type overview.

We are off CL now, was too confusing on TOU smart meter data, now it's simple, we time the HWS for cheapest use, and even during solar soak if clear days are going to allow for the 3.6kw use over the 30 - 45 mins once a day that it's heating.

I'm not aware a consumer has the ability to ask for special timings, I would think highly unlikely.

Not sure if it would be retailer (AGL) or the supplier that sets that.

I do not think that Controlled Load has ever worked that way.

When it says it is controlled by the meter, this is done by control signals being sent on top of the Mains. These signals turn on and off your supply when it suits the supplier. This is so they can balance their loads to make their supply more efficient and economical. They want as constant a load on the generators as possible, so when the demand is low they can switch on more consumption to achieve this goal. The parameters you are given is the times this applies and the minimum period of supply.

I used to have CL but did the math and my usage did justify the daily supply charge, so I had it disconnected.
