Changing to new meter

Hi,

I have an old style clock dial meter and am considering changing to an new smart meter so I can monitor my electricity usage.

just wondering if people have done this and it’s worth it. 
Also anyone have any rough estimate of costs for this? Will it be free as I’ve just Cancelled my change over to another company?
