Power Cuts and Resultant Surges

Hello Neighborhood.

Not that simple trying to get hold of AGL directly

Last Saturday we had two power cuts in our area. The first was 11ish, and the second 4ish.

After the first power cut, when the power came back on, our main TV wouldn't switch on afterwards. The TV is a year out of warranty. We reached out to the Agent, who then referred us a repairer. We've been told that the main board has blown. Contacted our insurance and our H&C excess of $500 is more than the cost of the repairs, and with the cost of the repairs, it makes sense possibly, to but a new TV with the associated new warranty cover etc,,

Our question is. Would AGL have some kind of consumer protection insurance that customers could a claim through to get replacement items? .

All customers would experience a power cut at some time, and if they also experience from some kind of resultant damage due to surges to their electrical equipment getting blown, surely we should be able to claim from someone for replacements.

Hi AussieGaz,

Thank you for reaching out.

We are truly sorry to hear about your situation and will do all we can to direct you to the right place.

If this is in relation to a power outage that affected your area due to a network fault or planned outage, the best people to contact would be your electricity distributor as they manage the power lines and supply to your home. If you are not sure who this is, it is included on the front page of your bill.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Megan

Hello Megan

Thanks for taking the time out to reply. Much appreciated.

Will get hold of Energex, and see what they have to say. Don't hold much hope, however no harm in asking.

Thanks again and Compliments of the Season to you.

Regards

Gary
