I lived by myself and paying $200-$300 a month. I worked 6 days a week and starting my shift at 6am and i’ll be home at 9pm. Only my fridge is on everyday. I only use my fan when i’m home and barely using my lights during the night. Why i’m paying a lot? I don’t use my electric all the time because of my work.

Hello!

Even if you’re rarely home, your bill can still be high because of fixed utility charges, your fridge running 24/7, and small “phantom loads” from devices left plugged in. Older or inefficient appliances also use more power, and sometimes billing or meter issues add costs. Checking your bill breakdown, auditing appliances, and asking your utility to verify the meter can help explain why you’re paying $200–$300.
