About 6 weeks ago I heard on ABC talk-back radio that the new exorbitantly high rates can be reduced to the ones the Government has proposed (negotiated? but not mandated).   All one has to do is CALL your electricity provider - AGL in my case - and tell them, "I don't want to pay the new rates please apply the Government-negotiated rates".

old rate

new rate

% increase

Peak

$0.65

$0.73

13.46

Off peak

$0.17

$0.26

55

Shoulder

$0.26

$0.36

35.15

Controlled Load

$0.16

$0.24

57.32

The increase is excessive !!!!!

Getting through to AGL by phone is VERY time consuming.  I had a few attempts and gave up for now.

Can AGL please get back to me via email.

Hi Tuck-agl, Thank you for reaching out.

We can assist you to ensure you are on the lowest rate energy plan, however, as we are required to read through regulatory scripting, we are unable to assist via this platform or email.

Our webchat team is available to assist with reviewing and swapping your energy plan, please head to www.agl.com.au/contact-us

Alternatively, I'll send you a private message so we can review your energy plan and send a digital link to swap it online.

Kind Regards,

Natalie
