Embedded Network

I recently contacted AGL to see if I'm on an embedded network. I was told they can't assist me, which I found very odd!

Does anyone know how to tell?

I'm asking as when I leased my apartment I was told by the owner I was and that i had to use AGL for gas and Energy Australia for electricity. Turns out that for electricity, I'm not on an embedded network and Energy Australia also did a gas meter check and said i'm not for gas either! But I'm wanting confirmation before i consider a switch to one provider.

Hi caramelloguy, thank you for reaching out with your query regarding embedded networks.

While it may have seemed unusual that AGL couldn’t assist initially, we can in fact help you determine if your property is part of an embedded electricity network. For electricity, if your property is within an embedded network, we can request your Embedded Network Manager (ENM) provide us with an on-market NMI (National Meter Identifier). This would allow us to proceed with transferring your electricity account to AGL.

To move forward, we would need one of the following:

• The name of your current ENM, or
• A recent copy of your electricity bill, as it may contain details identifying the ENM or embedded network arrangement.

Please note that this process only applies to electricity. Unfortunately, there is currently no on-market embedded network option available for gas, which means we wouldn’t be able to support a similar transfer for gas services.

If you can provide the bill or ENM information, we’ll be happy to investigate further and assist with the next steps and what plans are available.

Cheers, Deepesh
