Another email quarterly to monthly billing

The latest email came through last night saying from end of this billing period (4 days away) we are being moved to monthly billing.

Has anyone else received this ? (It could be just SA.)

For our own benefit apparently, with 'more frequent, lower bills'.

This might suit some people, for sure.

But for us, after 65 combined years of electricity supply from AGL for both home (40 years) and business premises (25 years), we like 4 bills a year, not 12. and we manage just fine . . . perhaps missing one or two bills paid on time in that period due to not receiving them.

This uninvited change has happened previously in the past, from earlier last year . . .

NOTE in that thread post I made above that it included the email text, showing there is the option in the email to stay on quarterly, instructions on how to do that.

This time there is no mention of being able to remain on quarterly billing in the email . . .

AGL has recently updated its usual billing frequency for customers with a digital meter to monthly.
As you have a digital meter at your premises providing timely electricity usage data, you will start receiving your AGL electricity bills monthly instead of quarterly.

Why Monthly Billing?

Having smaller, more frequent bills can help you keep a closer eye on your usage, simplify budgeting and make informed energy choices. Simply log into MyAccount (or register if you haven't logged in before) or download the AGL app to view your electricity bill projection and energy usage. For more details, visit our help and support page.
Late Payment Fees

It's important to note the existing $12 late payment fee, which currently applies to quarterly billing, will not change and will apply to any late payments including your new monthly billing. For full details, please review the terms and conditions of your account.

What happens next

You don't need to take any action. Your last quarterly bill will arrive soon, and after that, you'll start receiving your bills on a monthly basis. We believe this change will make managing your energy costs easier and more predictable

As said, this may very well suit some people, and if so great.

If not . . .

I know in the past you can go into your account and change back / stay on quarterly.

After checking the app to see if it was possible last night, and not succeeding finding a way**, I logged in this morning online and found the option to switch back is still there . . .

Go to Billing tab

Click ALL PAYMENT OPTIONS in the payment options window

Click bill frequency monthly

Click edit

Click to change to (stay on) quarterly.

** Just found it in the app . . .

Go to account tab at bottom right of screen, click settings

Under billing and payments, click monthly billing

Click relative account, and change back to quarterly

I hope this assists some facing the same issues to change back easily.

..

Although needing to opt out is not ideal, the online and app account info came up quarterly after going through the process, and this morning a nice email confirming this, a similar email sent last year.

-----------

Your monthly bill arrangement has been cancelled.

As requested monthly billing has been deactivated for your electricity account.

You're now on a quarterly billing cycle.

Your next meter read will be on 10 Oct 2025.

You can easily change back to monthly billing at any time via AGL Energy Online.

What do you need to do now?

Nothing, you're all set. You can manage your account 24/7 at AGL Energy Online.
