Support Port Forwarding with your internet service.

Today, after transferring to AGLs internet service. I found out after waiting over an hour and a half with AGLs terrible customer support team that you don't support Port Forwarding with your internet service. This is a basic, important function for many people. Why wouldn't you support it? It's ridiculous.

Hi @Mum23k

We provide customer support for Port Forwarding, but we also don't block any ports forwarding from customers wanting to set it up on your end, or through our or your own router.

Hi @TwinWaters

I am aware of a issue for Static IP's getting assigned for customers. But this has now been resolved. Any Static IP's can now be added to your service for a fixed rate of $7.50 per month.

Please give us a call on 131 245 8am-6pm if you require further assistance

Has anyone verified this?  I've just signed up, and it appears all incoming ports are blocked.  I did the AGL online chat, and they said port forwarding is not supported by AGL (which seems incorrect if they offer a Static IP).

@Glenn_AGL When you say "We provide customer support for Port Forwarding" what does that mean?  How can I get the ports unblocked?  I tried calling, but the support agent hung up, or we got disconnected.

I was with Aussie Broadband, and they enabled port forwarding no problem.  I didn't think I was going to have the same issue here.

Vikas to the rescue!  I now have port forwarding working.

First off @Glenn_AGL is incorrect when they say "we also don't block any ports forwarding".  All incoming ports are blocked, as AGL uses "CGNAT".

The online chat I had with Vikas to get it working:

Me:

Hi. I'm trying to setup port forwarding, but I believe I need to ask to opt out of "CGNAT". Does that make sense to you?

Vikas:

Let me help you to set up public Ip for you.

Then Vikas took about 5 minutes, I lost my internet connection.  I power cycled my modem and router.  And woohoo, everything is working!  Ports are unblocked!

Hi Craig,

Apologies for the typo, we dont* have customer support on setting up port forwarding. All ports are not blocked if you are on a Public IP, which you can request to remove the CGNAT.

For more information please call 131 245 and speak to Tech Support

Warm regards,
