It is very frustrating when this occurs. I have had a similar problem. Another option is to contact your bank to cancel payments or cancel a card if that's how you pay but you shouldn't have to do that and I don't know if that would have an impact on your credit rating. The service leaves a lot to be desired.

I am about to do the same. I am over $1000 in credit. Clearly the system is not monitored to maintain a reasonable amount for 'bill smoothing'. No help from AGL. Unfortunately I may have to contact the 'Bank' to stop payments. Very frustrating!
