VPP battery control

Would like to here from Sigenergy battery owners who are using the AGL VPP or AGL staff themselves. Does the VPP lockout certain functions on the Sig app ? I will soon be on the VPP and like to automate exporting from 5-9 pm to maximise gift card earnings using the Time Of Use function and would like to know if this function gets locked out by the VPP or not ? I don’t want to manually trigger exporting every day as I had to when I was on the Origin Energy VPP

Hi

I signed up for AGL VPP. Once active on my sig app, automatic export from 5-9pm stopped. I now have to do it manually. I have emailed AGL VPP and no response 3 days later. The agent that signed me up assured me that the VPP will not affect my pek hour export. I guess, he just wanted his comm for signing up a new user.

Very frustrating as i have lost 2 weeks of export already.

Not easy getting hold of AGL either.

Hi IggyKat

Yes I expect I will face the same disappointment and frustration . I will have to have a permanent alarm set for 5 pm everyday to remind me to manually trigger exporting until 9 pm. This is what I also had to do when I was on the Origin VPP.

I am now seriously questioning the worth of being on AGL’s VPP. I may decide to have it shutdown so I can assume full control over my battery and then be able to automate 5-9 pm exporting to maximise gift card income under the Battery Rewards plan

Cheers

Hey Trevor

I finally got to speak to someone at AGL. They confirmed that many sig
users have complained about the same thing. They are in discussion with Sig
regarding this matter. I was told that they will have an answer for me by
Tuesday next week.

I opted to remain on the VPP until then. I suggest that you not join VPP
until this matter is fully resolved.

Kind Regards,

Thanks IggyKat. Greatly appreciate you sharing with important information. I will ask AGL to put the brakes on my VPP connection process as you suggest. Please keep me in the loop as you learn more about what AGL may do re this.

Cheers
Trevor

Hi Iggykat

Have you heard anything further on the matter?

Hi @Pattent

We’ve temporarily paused onboarding Sigenergy batteries while we work through a resolution to this matter. We’re actively working to resolve this matter and will resume onboarding as soon as a solution is ready.

If you reach out to our dedicated team for the Virtual Power Point, they'll be able to give you further information regarding what is happening with it.

Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris, is AGL working with Alpha ESS also, as I am not able to even manually activate export to grid 5pm to 9pm?

Hi @Mal_1

I responded to your other comment, but will share that here for others benefits as well.

I've reached out to our team to speak with Alpha so we can try and assist .

That being said, there is currently no easy easy way to setup AlphaEss batteries to export during 5-9pm and thus AlphaESS may not get the full benefit of the Battery Rewards Plan.

It requires a lot of technical knowledge to be able to setup an Alpha Battery for export.

To implement forced export, you would need to use a third-party software that can control the inverter via API or Modbus. This approach requires mapping out all the necessary commands for charge/discharge scheduling and export limits.

To do this you can use Modbus.

AGL accepts no responsibility for the customer changing their battery settings.

If you require further details, please contact your manufacturer and installer directly.

Thank you, Chris
