gas bill increased by 89% since new pipes and meter installed

My gas bill for the same period last year has increased by 89%. The only thing thats changed is new incoming pipe work and new meter. We only have instant hot water system and two people living in the house , same as last year. Why has it increased compared to last year.

Has any other people noticed this large increase in their useage since new pipes and meter ?
