If the sun is still shinning and the inverter is on 6kw production, and it’s after 4pm so that means peak consumption in QLD, am I using solar power first and not paying the peak ( ie. if I’m using less than the solar is producing) ? Or does peak charge and I get an offset of what goes back into the grid?

Hi @DaveM,
Welcome to AGL Neighbourhood!
Your home will use your solar first in real time, while solar is being produced. It's only if your demand is higher than what your solar is producing in real time, that your home will draw power from the grid to top up your consumption needs. You can find out more about how your solar system works, on our website.
Thanks,
