Smart Meter Home Assistant Integration

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with integrating their smart meter with Home Assistant (https://www.home-assistant.io/)?

I have the Landis+Gyr E355 in Adelaide and have read that it is possible to connect to this smart meter via the Rainforest Eagle 200 (https://www.rainforestautomation.com/rfa-z114-eagle-200-2/) but the Zigbee connection needs to be activated by the service provider (AGL in this case). I'm interested in keeping tabs on our electricity usage and this seems like an excellent way of going about it, but I wanted to make sure that it is possible from an AGL perspective before making the purchase.

Further information can be found here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/energy-smart-meter-integration/333620/30

Home Assistant Add-on can be found here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/rainforest_eagle/

Thanks,

James 🙂

I'd love to see a secure API exposed from AGL so that I could get real-time data into my smart home monitoring.

Hell, I'd even switch providers if someone does that.... does anyone do that? Hmm....will have to investigate.

Edit: AGL people, if you were smart, you'd take note of the bold italicised text above.... it could be a USO that differentiates you from competitors on more than price.
