Gas Meter inside Unit

Hi, 
I have a tiny apartment kitchen and have a large Gas Meter that sits inside one of my Kitchen cupboards similar to the picture attached. I want to know are there smaller Australian Compliant Gas Meters that can be installed to free up valuable space?
