Becoming a common thread here on the forum, both federal and QLD rebate questions.

It really should have been explained better by Govco and retailers, seems they haven't sent that info down the line, or maybe they haven't fully planned that either !

Personally, I feel it is going to applied just before a first full billing period is due AFTER July 1st.

Thank you. That was my guess to, that it will be applied next full bill. Fingers crossed they do it right.

@Dicknc

I quote this from a RELIABLE source

************************************************************

The Federal Government has announced it will provide an electricity bill rebate to all Australian households and eligible small businesses.

For QLD the eligibility date for the first instalment is 1 July 2024. For ACT, NSW, SA and VIC the eligibility date for the first instalment is 31 July 2024.

Who gets the rebate?

All Australian households will receive a $300 rebate, paid in quarterly instalments.
Eligible small businesses will receive a $325 rebate, paid in quarterly instalments.

Residential customers

If you’re a residential customer, you don’t need to do anything to receive the rebate.

The rebate will be automatically applied to your electricity bills in quarterly instalments. For QLD households the first instalment will be applied by 8 July 2024. For ACT, NSW, SA and VIC households, the first instalment will be applied by 19 August 2024.

Small business customers

If you’re a small business customer whose annual electricity consumption is under or meets the threshold below, you don’t need to do anything to receive the rebate.

Small businesses whose annual electricity consumption is above the threshold will not be eligible for bill relief. The threshold is set by your state or territory government.

Some have stated on other posts on the Neighbourhood, that you will receive $25 a month, this is not true.

AGL has also stated on their website:

Seems this was something I may have put in a post re this.

I made that under the pretext of earlier news articles and other sources of either $75 a quarter or $25 a month being applied to distribute this.

From later info it is looking like quarterly AND monthly billing consumers will have this Federal rebate applied quarterly.

From an Energy Australia press release, they mention dates from for QLD and 4 other states, not sure why WA, Tas, and NT are not mentioned . . .

And from Bowens own press release . . .

From 1 July 2024, all households will see a $300 credit automatically applied to their electricity bills and around one million small businesses will receive $325 off their bills over 2024–25. The credits will be applied in quarterly instalments.
