Unusually high electricity bill

My last quarterly electricity bill was $765, billing over the last year was around $230 to $320 per quarter. Smart meter was installed 2 weeks into the billing period and apparently the reading from the old analog meter has shown a very high reading. I can't understand this as during this period there was no extra usage and we were not actually at home for a few days. I have contacted the resolution service with this problem but have not had a decent response.

Hi @June2

Thank you for your post.

There are a few things which could have affected why the bill could have increased, while your usage appears to be unchanged.

If you were receiving estimated bills before it got changed to a smart meter, then a reading would have been obtained as they changed the meter over causing a catch up of usage.

I'm more than happy to look into this for you. I'm going to send you a Private Message to get further information.

Thanks, Chris
