FYI

I am writing to report of a scam text message I received today 05/12/2022. Stating that my electricity account is in error (overdue).

I know this to be incorrect. For my account is well ahead in credit.

I just opened an AGL account and the next day I’ve received a text claiming to be AGL and asking for payment of an overdue amount due today. How did the fact I just opened an account get known online?

What I’m trying to ascertain is how the phishing party knew I’d just opened
an account with AGL. Also the amount being demanded for payment was
approximately equivalent to the usage to date albeit my AGL account showed
$0 owing.
