Shocking and shocking high bill

I have just received my bill and it is shockingly triple of what we normally use. I sense we have a faulty meter as a family of 3 can’t go from a $100 monthly bill to a $380 bill! Please help as I’ve called and the lady on the phone basically told me that’s what happens when I don’t use enough gas, the more I use the less I would have to pay, basically telling me because I’m not using gas I’m paying for it???? Red energy is in my diary to call and see what they can provide!

.

I'm assuming this is purely a gas bill.

Gas seems as complex, if not more complex, than electricity pricing.

Glad I don't have gas for anything but an LPG cylinder for the 4 burner stove top.

Anyway, gas posts on the forum have come up in recent past citing much higher bills than normal, some have found a miscalculation, others to do with various property connection issues.

Here's some links I found with a quick search.

https://neighbourhood.agl.com.au/t5/Energy-Accounts-Plans/10-times-higher-bill/td-p/19018

One is obviously in a block of units, just not sure if you are in a stand alone home, or unit / apartment etc.

Hope you get it sorted out, what you were told makes little sense.

Even if gas was cheaper as you use more, your nearly 4 x usual increase is probably not normal, unless there is a meter issue or bill calculation issue.

Good luck.

EDIT - Here's another thread from old and new posts re the conversion factor, and how it appears to change . . .

Hi! Thanks for the reply. Yes I’ve read those just now and looks like similar issue. I’ve attached the recent bill and as  you can see it’s CRAZY! I’m not happy with the customer service that I had yesterday (Thursday) so I am going to call again on Monday and if this isn’t resolved I guess next is ACCC. I cannot afford this bill I can’t believe it!
Any advice would be very appreciated 🙂

There is an estimated read there for 11th Sept . . . is that common with your bills ?

Obviously you supplied a read end August, which still shows a massive jump in cost over previous levels.

I suggest you go to energymadeeasy or whatever it is called to compare the rates to make sure you are getting the cheapest deals available. It also could be because the meter reads are only estimated and not actual meter readings too. But I do suggest you go and compare your rates though.
