I would like to build a garage over an easement which caters for 11,000 V overhead power lines near the boundary of my property. AGL is saying this is not allowed. I am not allowed to build even a garage under power lines. Are there any concessions that I could make that would allow AGL to change their mind?
There is a reserve situated at the back of my property. I would be prepared to install rear gates to my property so that AGL would have vehicular access to the powerlines. I could make sure that the roof of my new garage was properly earthed in the event that powerlines fell onto it. I assume that if I proposed to implement a raft of precautionary measures, AGL might be prepared to compromise and allow me to build my garage, if not entirely over the easement, at least partly so.
